Blue Hors Fifty Cent was originally purchased by Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein at the Danish Warmblood Elite Foal Auction. As a 3-year-old he was named premium stallion at the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing and, after a busy breeding season, completed an excellent 35-day test with a total of 836 points, including a score of 9 for capacity from the test rider.
“I have nothing negative to say about this horse, and I must admit I have never had a horse like him. He is sweet and intelligent, yes, a wonderful horse. I am both happy and proud to have a horse like him,” said Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, adding: “I have a very close bond with Digby because of his great and wonderful personality. Fifty Cent is still very young, but he comes very close to Digby’s big personality.”
As a 4- and 5-year-old, Fifty Cent was trained by rider Allan Grøn. Together they won the qualifier for the 4-year-old Danish Dressage Championship with a score of 9.54 and finished 5th in the finals, where Fifty Cent received the highest rideability score of the entire final – 9.7. In the autumn of 2019, he was handed over to national coach and Olympian Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein for further training.
“He takes everything in stride, and it has not been a problem for him to meet the other horses in the stable, not even my little white pony. I truly believe that Fifty Cent is a ‘once in a lifetime’ horse for me. We have really clicked,” says Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein.
His sire Franziskus by Fidertanz has been successful throughout his career, from the Bundeschampionate and the World Young Horse Championships to the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal Final, and continues in international Grand Prix with Ingrid Klimke. Despite his young age, he has already left a strong mark on breeding, producing many high-quality sport and breeding horses.
His damsire Donnerball by Donnerhall was also successful from the Bundeschampionate up to Grand Prix, ridden first by Holga Finken and later Kristina Bröring-Sprehe. In the third generation we find the Anglo-Trakehner stallion Michelangelo, sire of the world-famous Michellino, prolific sire of Grand Prix horses, as well as Kennedy, Just Mickey (Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén), and half-brother to the champion stallion Monteverdi.
Fifty Cent’s damline has had a major impact in Denmark. His great-granddam, the elite mare Guinea, produced 19 foals in 19 breeding years, including three medal mares, Galathea (eventing at S-level), Geneve (international S-show jumping), and Egelunds Ashley (Prix St. Georges dressage). His granddam Ginger, also an elite mare, produced 12 foals in 14 breeding years, including the licensed stallion and performance test winner Gagarin by French Kiss, as well as offspring competing in Austria and the USA. She is also the granddam of the licensed stallion Fredensdals Fountain by Fürstenball and the Grand Prix horse Skovlunds Gamin G. (Mikaela Lindh).
Fifty Cent himself is a very complete horse, with a pedigree rooted in classical German dressage lines, making him suitable for a wide range of mares. Some of his best foals have Dutch stallions as damsires.
He is a stallion with lots of elasticity and swing in his movement, and that is what he passes on to his offspring. He is especially good for mares with slightly mechanical movement, as he can add the missing elasticity and improve the front.
His first two foal crops have been very convincing, with several top foals both at the regional Danish Warmblood foal shows and at the Blue Hors Foal Championships.
At Blue Hors we have ourselves purchased some very promising colts by him, and they are developing very well.
In 2018, the colt Harrysmindes Frodo won the Blue Hors Foal Championship, and the following year his full brother Harrysmindes Franco qualified at the regional foal show for the Elite Show final. At the same event, Franco and two other foals by Fifty Cent were sold at the Elite Foal Auction.
“If Fifty Cent’s offspring inherit just his intelligence and rideability, then he has already contributed positively to breeding,” concludes Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein.
